From: ()Subject: Re: Apple trailers, kan man gemme dem? APPLE TRAILERS : Well, its not really a trailer but it has behind the scenesstuff and actual film footage. They make this "productiontrailer" look like it would be played in a theatre but thatseems doubtful. Nonetheless, definately worth a look.* Sent from RemarQ The Internet's Discussion Network *The fastest and easiest way to search and participate in Usenet - Free! You're better off getting it from - the Apple sitedoesn't let you d/l and keep it - only view it. doesn't appear to have a dns entry. APPLE TRAILERS : From: ()Subject: Re: Lord of the Rings Trailer Newsgroups: Date: 2000/04/16 It's easy to download and save it (well...kind of easy)...1. Load the movie as you normally would and it'll open Quicktime player.2. Once Quicktime player is up and running, add the movie to your favorites(Quicktime has a favorites menu similar to Internet Explorers, in that youcan save bookmarks to media clips you want to be able to link to quickly inthe future).3. Quit Quicktime player.4. Use Notepad (or Wordpad, or any other text editor for that matter) toload the file called "quicktime.qtp" This is usually located in\windows\system (or \winnt\system32).5. Look through this file (it's a bunch of gibberish, but with occasionalspurts of URLs to your bookmarks and other files) for the link to the filenamed "lotr 640 full.mov" (this is the highest quality one...the filenamemight be different for the other three sizes. In my particular case, thelink was this: APPLE TRAILERS : 9d84574a8d80d3cb12453c02589f25382f668c93 29e0375e81785ea61cd36a40938a41385e948b71 d7cf058bd1c8ef765cc3f/lotr_640_full.movAn insanely complicated URL for no apparent reason, but I digress...6. Load Quicktime player and go to that URL (or load that URL in yourbrowser, which will kick in the Quicktime plugin.7. Let the entire movie clip load. You will still not be able to save themovie directly from the player/plugin at this point.8. Find your Temporary Internet Files or Cache directory (where IE or NSsaves its temp files/cache)9. In that directory should be the full "lotr 640 full.mov" file. This isthe movie.10. Copy that file to the directory of your choice, and you're done.Is the above process a pain in the ass? You betcha. Does it work? Seems tofor now...until Apple or someone else figures out how to eliminate thisworkaround. This was the first major trailer release that I know of from Apple'strailers site that had the ability to save disabled. I hope it's not a trendfor the future. Heck...even the X-Men full trailer that was released lessthan a day or two before the LoTR trailer had a link to a ZIP file of theMOV for people who didn't want to see it only by streaming Quicktime.
