COLEMAN TENT TRAILERS : I am considering purchasing a close-out 1998 Coleman tent-trailer.The model is Sunridge or perhaps Sunbridge (can't read my ownscribbling on that point). If you have any feedback either positiveor negative about Coleman tent-trailers (now made by Fleetwood)please respond. Thanks in advance. I can take email replies andsummarize.-- ---------------------------------------- ------------------------------Gary J. Also Colemantrailers have allways been built with all metal framing in the sidewalls and roof and will out last trailers with wood framing. While thereare many fine tent trailers being built today, if I were buying one thatI planned on keeping for many years or were buying one that was a fewyears old, I would ONLY buy a Coleman.Chris (previous Coleman owner) COLEMAN TENT TRAILERS : I bought a '98 coleman Santa Fe model and love the trailer. With two adults and three small children there's lots of room to roam around and storage. I really like the storage bench with 2 drawers. On a three week holiday we only had to take one suitcase. The king size bed meant we didn't have to work about taking the table down to make a sleeping area. We had no trouble pulling the trailer with our 95 Astro van, even in the Canadian Rockies. I think coleman does a great job on those little extras and finishing. We looked at many brands of tent trailers before we decided on the coleman. I would not trade in my coleman any day. I can hardly wait for next summer and many weekends of camping.Until Coleman finishes the roof re-design they have in progress, I'davoid any '96 or newer unit with an ABS roof. Especially the 12' ones, and any size with A/C. COLEMAN TENT TRAILERS : -----------== Posted via Deja News, The Discussion Network ==---------- Search, Read, Discuss, or Start Your OwnI have an ABS roof on my 10' Coleman and we love it. The problem has beenoverly exaggerated. The bottom line is if you are going to install an A/Cunit on the roof, have it done correctly by a good dealer. The size andshape of the hole that they cut in your roof is the key to this wholething! Also if you have a 12' trailer you should not put too much weightin the center whether it is an A/C unit or just a bike rack.My 2 cents....... Before I spent any money on a tent camper I'd look at a mobile camper suchas a fifth wheel or straight job. 24 footer's ar'nt that heavy for a half-tontruck and reasonably priced about the same as a new tent camper.-----== Posted via Deja News, The Leader in Internet Discussion ==----- Create Your Own Free Member Forum COLEMAN TENT TRAILERS : We are looking at the Coleman 1999 Westlake. We would welcome any do's ordont's or pros and cons as this is our first tent trailer.thanksBe sure to get one that includes wheels. I have found them very hardto pull without them. There is a website alt.rv.pop-up-trailers that might get you more responsesand you might benefit from a search in there has beenplenty of references to Westlakes.See you at the campgrounds! __________ _____| | _____Kubek Crew /______________________\'99 Coleman Bayside |_|__|________|------------+replaced an '80 Jayco ((0))oWe bought a 98 Coleman Mesa and have had it for nearly 2 yrs now. Do notregret spending the extra money on the brand name. We have found that theextra quality was worth the price. Our latest trip was a 3000 mile trekfrom the Gulf Coast to Minneapolis for Spring Break to see old friends.Camper did fine the whole way. COLEMAN TENT TRAILERS : The features in the Coleman that make it heavier, including the axle typeand frame, are those in which add to the longevity of the unit. On ourtrips we've had wind and rain outside, but never inside. Love the tentingmaterial. All in all, very satisfied, intend to take the unit to Alaskanext summer. Lo-o-ong trips are fine with this unit.Email me when you get it and I'll put you in touch with some good sites thatwill help your first experiences. If you buy the 1999 Westlake, make sure you do not overload the rearof the trailer where they make a lot of storage space available. Youwill have quite a bit of sway potential if you do. They should haveput the storage area in the front where it should be... I would storethe heavy stuff like liquids/pots/pans/canned foods up in front, in fact I'd recommend traveling with the shower area and floor forward ofthe galley packed with your heavy stuff. Put your sleeping bags/clothesbulky stuff back under the seats and dinette. Loaded correctly, you'lldo fine.
