If youget to the big movie file and re-type it to MooV/TVOD, you will find QTPlayer (5?) refuses to open it.The two files need to be put back together with a bit of editing. I have anAppleScript which does part of the work (getting the files out of TempItems) but it's flaky at the moment.One thing is certain, the QT marketing team likes playing games with peoplewho (quite legitimately IMHO) want a hard drive copy of a trailer. This resultant tiny file is not the movie - eventhough the Finder thinks it is - but just a text file with a collectionof links inside. The QuickTime engine looks at the Connection Speed ofyour set-up, and then chooses the relevant link from this tinylink-file, which is then handed off to the QuickTime Plug-in fordownloading and playing.You can view this baby pre-load file with BBEdit or something similar,find the right-sized file with its corresponding link, then copy thelink and paste it into some other HTML-compliant file-grabber. I've usedthis process (and a copy of Anarchie) to grab all sorts of QT4 moviewsand previews.Depending on what browser you are using, there should be a Temporary Itemsfolder of some sorts. After the movie has finished downloading in thebrowser, go to the temp folder and drag the file there to the desktop. Openit in ResEdit and change the type code to MooV and the creator code to TVOD.(That's an "O" in TVOD, not a zero). Save changes and the file should turninto a QT movie file.
