QUICKTIME TRAILERS : Zu-hucht.

QUICKTIME TRAILERS : I'd like to save some of the movie trailers I've watched on Quicktime's sitefor future viewing without having to download them over again, but I can'tseem to find where they are stored on my HD. I checked /Temporary InternetFiles. Is it possible to save them? (Right clicking won't work, either.)I know, I know, copyright and all...Yet another reason to hate quicktime. Which is a shame too, as it seemsto offer the best image. Windows Media doesn't look half as good, butat least I can download and save the file using ASFRecorder.Actually, I just went under Control Panel>Quicktime (for a completelydifferent reason) and it has an option to save movies to cache. Sohopefully that will work.Todd "legal schmegal" McNeeley.email: mcneeley at enteract dot comYou do realize you were leading unsuspecting cheaters straightinto a porn explosion, right?Todd "Mozilla 1.1 beta -- It raises the bar for all browsers" McNeeley.email: mcneeley at enteract dot com

QUICKTIME TRAILERS : The Quicktime trailers from Apple's site (and others) can't normallybe saved for later viewing.I seem to remember seeing a utility that will allow one to save thesetrailers.but not if the "do not save" attribute was set on the web site.I think they can also set a "No cache" stipulation, maybein the page headerIt can also differ depending on the browser you are using, and how ist settingsare tweaked... I used to be able to save quicktime trailers with Quicktime Proin Netscape but not Explorer. Also if you use the contextual menu when you click on a quicktime link, youwill sometimes be able to download and save the quicktime file in a manner thata mere click on the link would not allow.(2) Or, you can go into Quicktime's Prefs ("Quicktime" in "System Preferences" in OS X; "Quicktime Settings" Control Panel in OS 8/9) and tell it to save moves in your browser's disk cache. Make sure your browser's disk cache is large enough toa accommodate a Quicktime movie--go to your browser's prefs, adjust cache size accordingly, and clear the cache before viewing the movie. Then after viewing the movie but before quitting your browser, go into your browser's disk cache folder in the Finder (in System Folder-->Preferences-->your browser's preferences folder in OS 8/9; haven't yet looked for it in OS X). Duplicate the file--it'll have a weird name but you should be able to locate by its size. Then rename it and there you have it.

QUICKTIME TRAILERS : Don't know of any such program, but you might want to try snagging the QT files by going to the "Go" menu and then "Go to folder". The folder you're looking for is "/tmp/501/Temporary Items". It exists only when there's something in there so there's no point in looking for it unless you're viewing a film.I'm not sure it'll be called "501" in all machines. You might need to enter Terminal to find out what that folder is called on your system. To find out, type "id -u" in a Terminal window. The result is thenumeric uid of the account you are logged in on. By default under OS X,the first account you create is given the uid 501, and subsequentaccounts are numbered consecutively. The trailers I've seen were cached as a file in an invisible folder in the root level of the startup disk with a name like QTxxxxxx where xxxxxx is something I've forgotten. After the trailer has completed download do a Sherlock search for name contains "QT" and invisible. Drag the file to the desktop. I then copied the file and renamed it, including a ".mov" extension which made it double clickable into QT Player. I don't know if the copying part is really necessary but I did it in case the browser deleted the file when the window was closed.

QUICKTIME TRAILERS : The latest commercials of the Phantom Menace are currently atunfortunately the movies are embedded in the html page and all attempts atsaving them have failed. Shift click , save link as, following the dir pathsback (dir browsing produces errors) have resulted in nothing. Can anybodyhelp? Does any body know how to get at them? Let me know.-----------== Posted via Deja News, The Discussion Network ==---------- Search, Read, Discuss, or Start Your Owndid you try looking at the html source, here's a snip from the first page:Download this movie.Macintosh SIT file or HQX file.Windows ZIP file.--Mock TurtleGod does not play dice, but Goddess does toss apples.-----------== Posted via Deja News, The Discussion Network ==---------- Search, Read, Discuss, or Start Your Ownwow, just finally looked at what i dl'd, cool. guess that link iposted before was for a different file (it's only around 24MB),wasn't paying attention cause NTSP5 just happened to stall out on mewith only 4kb left. Anyway, to actually save the files, open the htmlsource, copy the url to the clipboard then paste into GetRight, seemsto work for me (cept for the fact that QT4 just freezes after playingabout 10-15 sec, lol, it works just fine when imported into premierethough). Pasting it into your browser just opens it there, though thefile should still be in a temp folder somewhere, but i'll leave it toyou if you want to go that route.
