SHAOLIN SOCCER TRAILER : Hey, has anyone actually downloaded and *listened* to the new Shaolin Soccer trailer??? It sounds AWFUL! The voice acting sounds cheap and hokey. Even the narrator doing the voice over sounds anti-dramatic. It's completely different from the Shaolin Soccer trailer released last year. What happened to the voice actors? I was looking forward to seeing this dubbed in English, now I don't want to have anything to do with it.They changed the voice of Chow's character from Chow himself to someother guy. the other voices are the same. However, the rumor is thevoices have just been changed for the trailer, perhaps they thoughtChow's accent was to strong to work in a trailer.I am more concerned that they decided to put the crappy "Kung Fu Fighting" on the soundtrack - YUCK!Yes, but does that mean that Miramax should put that song in almost everymartial arts movie they release into theaters? Plus the version in "ShaolinSoccer" is a basterdized rap version that sucks much ass.

SHAOLIN SOCCER TRAILER : This trailer, discovered on a Korean website (), was done byMiramax last year before they decided to call it KUNGFU SOCCER.The originally planned release of the edited version of the movie on thisFriday will not happen. An earlier report suggests it has been pushed backto the first quarter of 2003, but according to an article featured ontoday's Daily New of China, someone from Miramax's Beijing office said itwill be released on May 18 at less than one thousand theaters in NorthAmerica.Jackie Chan's THE ACCIDENTAL SPY, also planned to be released this weekendby Miramax's subsidiary Dimension Films, is pushed back to the last quarterof this year or even sometime next year. Jackie Chan's this movie wasreleased in Asia more than a year ago. It has avoided head-on with his THETUXEDO which is coming this June, but may have to compete with his two othermovies, HIGHBINDERS and SHANGHAI KNIGHTS.

SHAOLIN SOCCER TRAILER : ...They remove Stephen Chow's English dub of himself and replace itwith a bland American voice. But everyone else still has a Chineseaccent. And just in case they didn't reuin the movie with all thespoiler clips in the last trailer, they go and put in more in this one.I'm hoping this was just an earlier trailer made before Stephen Chow didhis dub, because if they really did replace him, I think I'll have to breakinto the theatres and burn the prints. What's the big deal with Shaolin Soccer? I saw it and it was only soso. With all the hype, I thought it was going to be really funny andall but it turned out to be another typical ridiculous Stephen Chowmovie.English dubbing is really atrocious. This is coming from a personwho've watched A LOT of Vietnamese dubbed series and French dubbedmovies. Ak!

SHAOLIN SOCCER TRAILER : I saw posters and trailers for this movie last spring and this movie isSTILL not out. Some needs to light a fire under Harvey Weinstein's assand tell him to release it already! 'Best Buy' even has 'access' to thetrailer playing in their 'TV' department, where the hell did they getit, as the trailer is not even available on a DVD yet??Shaolin Soccer has a long and sordid history at Miramax. Not longafter this film was released to box-office success in HK in 2001,Miramax bought up much of the worldwide rights. They thenproceeded to create a cut and dubbed version of the film. Theedits were made to "tighten up the story", i.e. make the filmshorter, and to secure the film a PG rating by the MPAA. Theyeven hired the director and star of the film, Stephen Chow, todub his own voice. They also decided to retitle the film "Kung-FuSoccer," since they thought most people wouldn't know what'Shaolin' means.

SHAOLIN SOCCER TRAILER : Then, they sat on the film. At first it was thought that the filmwould be released Jan. 2002. Then that came and went, and Shaolin Soccer was tentatively rescheduled for Fall 2002.Meanwhile, fans of the film protested the changes Miramaxmade, especially the name change. Miramax relented onthe name change, but kept the cuts and the dub.In Summer of 2002, a trailer for Shaolin Soccer ran infront of Spy Kids 2. However, the film never materializedthat fall, and it was now tentatively scheduled for Spring of2003. Meanwhile, the film had been playing at comicconventions and film festivals to mostly enthusiastic audiences. In Spring of 2003, the film was bumped back to fall, as wasthe as yet-unreleased "Hero," another Chinese film getting theshaft from Miramax. Now, a trailer appeared for ShaolinSoccer again, and again in front of a Spy Kids film, SpyKids 3D. Miramax still thought the target audience forthis film was kids.
