THE HULK TRAILER : True. They didn't. I'm guessing it was studio pressure, so as to dumb downthe film enough, since the studios feel people will stampede the ticket boothif the familiar elements (supervillian, swerve betrayal by an ally, etc.) arenot there. However, if you are going to be forced into having a supervillianbut want to stick with the story you're trying to tell (in this case it's moreof a psychological film about Bruce Banner and his rage and his father'sinvolvement with it), you might as well make the old man the bad guy.But I agree that for a first film, the selling point is the superhero himself. The hook is seeing your favorite hero on screen for the first time. Theoriginal Superman was like that. Yes, it had a plot with Lex Luthor blowing upCalifornia, but there wasn't much drama to it. It set up the payoff in theoverrated Superman II with the Phantom Zone villians and Lex Luthor's return.---- THE HULK TRAILER : Now that you're cancer free (congrats) I must disagree w/you about Supes II.Shit acting, but a great story. A remake up to 2003 SFX standards withbetter actors would kick major booty. As long as the portrayal of the character is accurate the details of thestoryline shouldn't be that big a deal.Well, there's really only one. I used a poor choice of words. I should havesaid the origins of the various incarnations of Hulk (e.g., Grey Hulk,Professor Hulk, Savage Hulk, Ultimate Super Duper Savage Crazy Hulk, etc.etc.). As in, at certain times, the Hulk, in his battles with bad guys and intrying to cure himself, has gotten new attributes that could be construed as anew incarnation. But in reading them, some are absolutely ridiculous and justwouldn't translate to the screen. >how do they differ, andWell, generally it seems they're sticking with the comic origin. The originalorigin of the original incarnation. The only difference is, instead of agamma bomb test gone awry, it's some sort of gamma radiation experiment goneawry. Makes sense, since the idea of big bomb testing (MOAB test of a couplemonths ago notwithstanding) went out with the peak of the Cold War. Italso seems that the gamma accident is just a trigger. Obviously there is areason why Bruce Banner turns into a Hulk while anyone else would just die. The explanation I am gathering is that the father, a former scientist, did somesort of genetic experiments, some involving a young Bruce. This generallyjibes with the comics as well, although some of the fanboys seem to have aproblem with it, for some reason. THE HULK TRAILER : But regarding convoluted and silly origins, it more applies to thesupervillians of Hulk (and a lot of others too). I mean, we're talking stufflike "The dead body of super criminal so-and-so merges in a dream state withthe symbiotic spacesuit from planet x" and shit like that. You gotta simplifyand adapt for the screen.Richard Lester is the anti-Christ. If you've got the time and the interest, you should check out the difference between the Donner and the Lester cut ofSuperman II. It makes all the difference in the world. Especially when youthrown in the deleted Donner scenes shown rarely on the extended network TVcuts and stuff Donner filmed (some Brando-Reeve scenes that really would havemade the film more cohesive, and also given closure to the story arc).Basically, anything campy, shitty, and stupid is Lester. Anything featuringGene Hackman and anything good is Donner.---- THE HULK TRAILER : No, not THAT "Hulk". The green-skinned, kickass one."TIME TO DIE, JEFF HARDY!" - Bubba Ray Dudley, Wrestlemania X-8I hope the film lives up to Mottola's high standards of excellence.I hope the film lives up to Mottola's high standards of excellence.is it still the same one wheer he blows the side of the house up?"don't make me Ang Lee, you wouldn't like me when I'm Ang Lee"I think this is a new one, with actual footage of the green guy."Adam Kohen" wrote in message...i'll have to make arangements to have a look then :)yes, it does rock!(how do i save it in mdiea player then? there ain't a save option in tehlist?)I think this wasn't intended to be leaked out yet. The rumor is that it'ssupposed to be the ad that plays during the Superbowl, so after it airs I'mguessing the official quicktime version will be put on-line."Adam Kohen" wrote in message...for what it's worth, this tralier is deffinitly worth waiting for :)the way he swings that......oh, sorry, i'm not going to spoil it for you yet THE HULK TRAILER : Simple, but effective. The audience where i was @ (Times Square) popped likea mofo when Banner's eyes turned green and the logo flashed on screen. LOLthen you shouldve heard the collective moan when "coming 2003" appeared.--"This is one more pathetic example of the dumbing of America -- to show thefilms in the wrong aspect ratio to placate the stupid, instead of in theright aspect ratio to reward the knowledgeable."--- Roger EbertThe one with the giant Spiderman balloon attached to the front. I think itsLoews. On the same block as B. B. King's.I saw spider-man. And didn't see the hulk triler with it."Jay Dub" wrote in message...Saw Spiderman, no Hulk trailer. I did see the MIB2 trailer and lookedamazingly funny.Hulk doesn't do much for me. I think the strength of any comic book movie isin it's villian. The whole "inner-conflict" issue is better left on page thanon screen.
