THEATRICAL TRAILER : I've got a strange thing for teasers and trailers. I compile them ontomultiple tape VHS volumes from DVD & LaserDiscs I've got. They're fun topop on while doing other things...WOW some one else actually mentioned the Strange Days teaser.When it come out on DVD it better be on there or heards are going to rollBest trailer of recent months to me was definitely GATTACA. There wasone where they promoted themselves at a corporation, not a film. Theyeven had a number to call for the Gattaca corp. and when you called,you don't have the authority to enter their system.Good choices. Obviously The Phantom Menace teaser shouldrank among the best, though. And although the movie was aletdown, the ID4 teaser and trailer kicked ass. So didGodzilla's. Perhaps Devlin and Emmerich should let othersdirect and get into marketing. THEATRICAL TRAILER : In a chance of pace, I also loved the trailer for MontyPython & the Holy Grail. Thought they would be neat to watch with mykids.My main questions is whether or not the VHS version's image has beencropped to "fit my TV". Since the film's original aspect is 1:33 andnot truly widescreen, I'm hoping a full frame presentation iscomparable to the way it was seen in theaters in '31. I know I'mmissing out on digital audio, improved image, etc. That doesn'tbother me at the VHS price point. I already own the spanish versionon VHS, so I don't need the DVD for that necesarily.The whole pan n' scan thing is my nitpick I guess.Any info appreciated.Well, I just found out through the wonder of mathematics that 4 x 3 isthe same as 1.33 (1.33 x 3= 3.99999999...).Any other advice on the extra features of the DVD over the VHS arestill appreciated. Apparently, the two films were made simultaneously, with theSpanish language version being shot at night each day after wrap on theEnglish language version. Unlike Dracula which is weakly directed and inwhich the center of the piece is Lugosi's always exotic but not always goodperformance, the Spanish language version is much more suspenseful anderotic. One reason for the eroticisim, one learns on the commentary, isthat (I'm not sure if the Hayes office had been established when the filmwas made) was the studios had much more lax standards for films that weredistributed for the non-American audience; dubbing and subtitles were notcommonplace and this was the only way for a studio to get their property outinternationally. The Spanish language version also has a specialintroductory piece by the leading lady and alternate tracks and subtitles.
