TRAILER DOWNLOAD : MPEG is superior to both AVI and Quicktime. I don'tunderstand why no one uses it.1) No one owns the rights to MPEG (unlike AVI and QT) - There would be noone to give Lucas a fat check for exclusive format rights.The new version of Quicktime is very nice. Also notice that if you stretch thewindow to fill your screen, the image remains relatively crisp.Totally agree. I just finished downloading it, and the viewing qualitywas very good. It was 25 mb and took a while, but I feel it was worthit.i know.. the quality is brilliant.. btw, you can get a 480res version of theteaser trailer(if you really want to.. and i did!!)=)go to the teaser trailer page (it is linked to the theatrical trailerdownload page) and instead of clicking on the link to the zip file (whichleads to the postage stamp download), click on the 480 best quality area TRAILER DOWNLOAD : I have QT 5.0.2 installed on my NT box. I can watch a trailer fromapple.com/trailers through the browser plugin. I had specified savingfile in local cache under plugin settings. After all this, I triedlooking at the cache folder, but the only .mov file there was about1.82KB big.Also tried specifying the complete URL (of the .mov file) in the QTplayer. Was able to watch it, but again no download.On 13 Mar 2002 07:16:09 -0800, (John Doe) purgedforth the following:look for a program called winVCR or something along those lines. itcan record streaming media.--Spectre -"Michael; I did nothing, and it was everything I hoped it could be."For maximum ease of use, you'll need Quicktime Pro to do this.In the latter case (OpenURL in Quicktime Player) you would just 'save' themovie, rather than download it.There are ways to get the file even without QT pro. On Windows, I think itgets put in the 'temporary internet files' folder rather than the cache. Getit out of there ASAP or it will get overwritten. TRAILER DOWNLOAD : You might try making a html page with a full link to the file, then rightclick on the link in your web browser and choose 'download link to disk' orwhatever it's called. This ought to work.BTW, Quicktime trailers are almost never streamed, they are cached using the'progressive download' principle, so the file really does get downloadedwhen you watch it. Using a tool to capture the 'stream' from the screen (assuggested by another respondent) would probably be bad idea, not leastbecause you may lose quality.wow - that is the most comprehensive and helpful answer i've ever seenin one of these group postings! thanks for sharing... i've alwayswondered that myself, how to save trailers that seem to just streamin. i'll check my temp internet files next time i'm viewing trailersat home. i am so glad to see that there are people like you, brennan,who know the answers to these "techie" questions and are willing toanswer them in a helpful, honest way that "non-techies" can understand- instead of just making fun of us for not knowing! you rock -thanks! ~angie TRAILER DOWNLOAD : Thanks Brennan and Spectre for all the help. Please see inline.Did that. Searched all the drives. Nope, nothing. Could it be adifferent extension?Actually, meant "Temporary Internet Files" when said Disk Cache.That's the default folder for storing disk cache for IE. Cleared itbefore streaming, after viewing (and no chance for IE to overwrite)the only .mov there was about 1.82KB. Largest file was an icon about5KB. Tried that too. (Thanks for the tip. Hadn't tried this before) Butagain, even though the URL()works in the QT "Enter URL" window; in the created HTML page (on rt.clicking and downloading link to disk) it gets me the same 1.82KBfile.Brennan, any good links where I could get further info aboutprogressive download?Though, I already got the trailer I wanted (AoTC), but that was asimple download from another site. Would appreciate if someone helpsme get stuff direct from apple.com/trailers (or in this case, fromstarwars.com) TRAILER DOWNLOAD : On 15 Mar 2002 02:59:13 -0800, (John Doe) purgedforth the following:np. here's a link to the program. As I recall, just copy and paste theURL of the mov into this, and it will record it.right near the bottom of the page. It has two versions, one b2 andb31. 31 supports win2k.enjoy.--Spectre -"Michael; I did nothing, and it was everything I hoped it could be."The 1.82KB movie is just a small 'ref' movie which loads another movie froman internet location depending on which version of Quicktime you have installed.This other movie gets cached somewhere else. I'm not sure where. I thinkQuicktime will hide it quite well.Anyway, I opened the 1.82KB movie in a (good) text editor, and, amongst abunch of binary data, I see several absolute urls to the 'You don't have thelatest version of Quicktime' movie, and one relative url which I stick onthe end of the original url and get this;
