X MEN TRAILER : Which is the market I think they're going for. Comic readers will thinkthe X-Men are cool and will go see it and will be shocked to see this newview of the X-Men. But the movie may be good on its own right. For thosewho don't know the X-Men, this is another big blockbuster. I thought itwas hokey but cool, my sister (who watched the cartoon) thought it was OK,my friends (who know the books thanks to me) said parts of it sucked, andyet other people said the trailer looked good. I'm reserving judgementuntil I see a lot more of the film. And, conversely, I thought the trailer for THE MATRIX was cool. The moviewas Cybertheory 101 (which I had to take every year for the last three)and so I hated the plot. (Loved the filming itself, though.)

X MEN TRAILER : I wasn't quoting you directly -- I was approximating the enthusiasm you'vebrought to your posts. Why not just wait until you see the movie before you form your opinion ofit? See, at this point, you don't have anything to say ... but you'resaying it an awful lot, which is what reads to some as fanboyish andannoying.*I* know it wasn't a direct quote but who's to say someone else wouldknow that?i can think of FOUR or FIVE new posts i wrote on the subject, hardly an"awful lot"but uh, who exactly am i forcing to red my posts? if my excitement overa movie annoys you, the solution is quite simple, ignore it. at leastuntil the subject line says "OK, I saw the movie, here's what I thought"Generally, if people don't see quotation marks around something, they don'tassume something is a direct quote. It's one of the quirks of reading.Of course, your use of "new posts" conveniently ignores all the responsesyou've generated, replying with increasing whininess and hostility toanyone who asks the reasonable question: Why are you so enthusiastic abouta movie you haven't yet seen?

X MEN TRAILER : Here's my solution to your solution, then: If my replies to your postsannoy you, ignore them.you're assuming people use enough of their brains to know thati thought you were talking about the posts i made that began threads, not the responseserm.....dunno where you get that one from. i mean who's the one that'sbeen calling people names here? certainly not mewell let's say i'm a fan of.....the late Freddie Mercury.....he has anew box set of rare songs coming out. i've never heard them before buti'm excited about it. i can't wait to hear them. what's so hard tounderstand about me reall loking forward to seeing a new flick?well, unlike *some* people, it takes an awful lot to annoy me.In article , (Michael Allred) wrote:Is that so much to ask? Come on people, band together and switch yourbrains to "on" mode. We can make a difference!

X MEN TRAILER : In article , (Michael Allred) wrote:You get excited about one movie per year and you chose X-MEN? Ouch.--Bjorn Olson"It's been a bloody stupid day."Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait ... are you basing your opinion that this moviewill be a total success on the fact that people haven't heard of it?Matrix started strongly because the trailers showed sequences unlikeanything people had seen before (mainly action and fx, of course) andpresented a compelling mystery to the viewer (the whole "Unfortunately, noone can be *told* what the Matrix is. You have to see it for yourself"thing). The X-Men trailer is very well put together, but it is not extraordinarylike the Matrix trailer was. It wasn't even as good as the Godzillatrailer, and that movie (despite being ... a not good movie) made $136million.Now that I think about it ... Godzilla has a fan base not unlike that of theX-Men. Imho. And the Godzilla trailers had non-fans drooling to see thefilm. The X-Men trailers ... the first one was just not good (the one thatlisted off the character names). The followup trailer was definitely astrong improvement, and actually made me somewhat interested in seeing themovie, but the anti-Mutant political commercials displayed a spark ofgenius. They should have played this card more aggressively, though.

X MEN TRAILER : X-Men is lucky that it's not opening against any strong opening movies. Itonly has to fight against Travolta's "Numbers", and in fact the entire restof the month is clear of obvious hits. Had it come out in June, it wouldhave been utterly ripped apart.Still, moviegoers are very finicky. A movie that is a hit this month mayhave bombed if released instead next month. Apparently, people wanted tosee gross-out comedies and disaster flicks the past couple weeks instead ofI have to disagree with that. The reason I avoided The Matrix initially wasbecause of the trailers. I thought it looked way cheesy and the whole"Unfortunately, no one can be *told* what the Matrix is. You have to see it foryourself" thing seemed too gimmicky for me. That line told me, "The movie islame and if we show you what its about, you won't want to watch it." But, nohamr. I'd rather watch a movie with no hype to cloud my judgement anyway.
